Why We Started Letter Jacket
When the internet was still very young, most corporate websites had little functionality. You could see a brand logo, some copy explaining what the company’s mission or purpose was and maybe — if you were lucky — you could see a smattering of product listings.
This limited usefulness was fine in 1998, but fifteen years later, some websites still were not up to snuff. In that time we saw online marketplaces take off in terms of sales and revenue. We also saw that hundreds of company websites were letting customers order from them directly, cutting out the middle-man and having items shipped directly to doorsteps. Yet, there were still few options for wholesale envelope supplies, let alone ones with custom printing.
Sure, there were big box office supply stores you could place orders online with, just as there were office supply distributors who could ship your company a wide array of products. When it came to envelopes with high-quality custom printing, the prices you would pay were sky-high and the service you would get was quite poor.
Because we have been manufacturing high-grade envelopes for more than 50 years, we jumped at the opportunity to fill the void in the online market. We hired the best web designers to craft us a highly-functional and easy-to-navigate website that could handle orders 24 hours a day. We think the fact that it is easy on the eyes does not hurt, either. Once our website was live, we set about doing the one thing we are passionate about: making custom-printed envelopes.
Why We Only Sell One Type of Product
Early on when we were making plans for the website, we quickly ruled out the possibility of carrying other products. After all, there are thousands of places to get pens and almost as many that can give you printing paper, binders, sticky notes, etc. Instead of spreading ourselves thin, we resoundingly decided to commit to one thing in order to do it well.
This dedication to one product allowed us to purchase manufacturing equipment without much risk. By making one product on site, we could control costs as well as quality. We also knew that if we were in charge of our own machines, then we could crank out orders at our own speed. It turns out that speed is fast. Lightning fast. So fast that all orders we receive will ship within three days.
What is more, we do not have to make adjustments when we get a big or complex order. The “envelope department” is not going to set us back by shifting our focus. That is because our entire building is the envelope department. All we focus on is printing as many envelopes as we can to keep our customers happy and clients satisfied.
